Meet Our International Students

Marcela, Moldova

“I enrolled at ҹèÊÓƵ because of its location. I always dreamed about visiting Michigan with its beautiful Sleeping Bear Dunes and the Great Lakes! When I got here, I was shy because of my English speaking level, but I was thankful for how supportive and encouraging the faculty and the staff were. I thoroughly enjoyed working with all my professors. They invited me to speak in their classes about my country and my culture. I made a lot of friends by getting a job on the campus and joining a few ҹèÊÓƵ student groups like Phi Theta Kappa and the International Club where I met people from entirely different backgrounds. Together we uncover new interests, learn valuable teamwork skills, expand our perspectives, participate in honors, leadership, service and fellowship programs. We also volunteer on the campus and in the community. But mostly, we are having fun!”

Ayo, Nigeria

“In trying to decide on what to concentrate on after my bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, my ҹèÊÓƵ advisor really helped me in boosting my interest in Renewable Energy and Construction Technology. This is a new field that has great current research development in Technology. Also, ҹèÊÓƵ has great infrastructure and newest laboratory equipment that can improve learning and give the best education. ҹèÊÓƵ is a place where learning takes place both theoretically and practically. Studying in the United States and specifically at ҹèÊÓƵ is the one of the best experiences in a lifetime.”

Fatima, Mali

“When I first came to ҹèÊÓƵ a year ago to work toward earning an accounting degree, I knew very few people in Traverse City and did not have any community. Fortunately, I got involved with the ҹèÊÓƵ International Student Club through which I have met many incredible people. The International students' advisor is such a great person who helped me get settled in at the college, find a job on campus, meet other students and so on. If you are an International student who is looking for a great place to begin your college education or have been struggling to find a college to attend, I would encourage you to take a look at ҹèÊÓƵ. ҹèÊÓƵ has great teachers and staff that make learning interesting, give students the desire to challenge themselves to thrive, and make you feel welcomed. ҹèÊÓƵ and the Grand Traverse area have much to offer, so check it out!”
